Friend Letter: Lord Knows What We Go Through

Sister Bruno!

Sorry this letter is a little late. I'm going to try and write you every week but this week has just gotten away from me. I have three tests, but I've told you. Life here is pretty good. I can't remember if I told you that I've changed my major to Human Development. but if I haven't I just did. I'll be taking classes over the spring and summer to speed up my graduation so that I can hopefully do an internship next spring and then be done. I want to do therapy for autistic kids. There are only four weeks left of this semester and that excites me greatly because I'm ready for it to be over with! I guess I shouldn't wish it away. This semester hasn't been all bad, in fact quite the contrary, there have been some of the happiest times in my life. It's just these last few weeks having been so bueno. So that's as far as school. My parents want me to fly home to TN for a few days in between the winter and spring but I don't know if I'll do that because flying there would mean spending ALL day in the airport, and I only have four days between school. I'm kind of thinking I don't want to spend two of those in the airport stressing myself out a ton when I can just stay here and relax. . . .

Thanks again for those scriptures you sent me, they have helped a lot. The good think about these last few weeks is that they've helped me draw closer to the Lord. I'm reading the Book of Mormon right now and I'm in 3rd Nephi. And it was talking about how the Lord has suffered everything and knows what we're going through. It just reminded you of what you said in your last letter that Christ didn't just suffer for sin. I've also started reading the New Testament because I realized the other day that I've been a complete Hobo my entire life and have never read the Bible. I've decided to rememdy that so I'm going to try the New Testament first because I've heard the OT is difficult to get through, especially for amateurs like me. :) And then on tope of that in my BOM Class we were reading a quote the other day I think it was by President Hunter and he basicly said that Modern Scripture, so like conference talks and stuff like that, should be "the walk and talk of our everyday lives" so I've started reading one conference talk everyday too. If you add it all together I think I do at least 45 minutes of gospel study a day, but I feel good about that. And that is still probably not even a pittance of what you do. So in general that has raised my spirits and I'm not so mopey.

So how are you? I know I asked that a lot but it could be because I'm genuinely interested. In your last letter you said that you like it when people take the time to tell you how they're actually feeling, well we do too?! By the way, What's up with you sending pictures to Matty and not to me? Boo! I mean I got the one of you and your district but he got a bunch from you in your last letter to him, can we say unfair?! haha j/k

Friend Letter: BYU School Stuff

Sister Bruno!

Sorry I've been such a bum and not written in a while. Things have just been nuts around here! Last week I had three tests and the week before that my family was here. Something has been way funny with my grades lately, it seems like no matter what I do I get B's on all my tests and papers and things. I'm not such a fan, but I got an A on a BOM test I took last week and I'm hoping I did fairly well on a Latin test I took on Friday, so hopefully my long streak of B's is coming to a close. Keep your fingers crossed.

I'm glad that you got that package Matt and I sent you, I hope you enjoyed it. We both knew you were probably missing the Hot Cheetos. . . .

Sorry that was a really long rambling thing, and you probably don't want to be bothered with it because I know you're trying to focus on doing the Lord's work, but it seems easier to talk to you about it than anyone else because you know Matt and I both so well. So, how are things in the mission? Nena was over today and was telling me that she felt like a jerk because she hadn't realized you'd left already and she didn't get to say goodbye. Just so you know she really does care, and her heart's in the right place. Has all the drama in your district or zone settled down a bit? It seems like you get along alright with the Elders and stuff in your mission. Are you feeling more confident in speaking Chinese? Did you ever run into that kid who announced in my BOM class last semester that he was going to your mission and entering the same exact day? So do you know when your official departure date from the MTC is?

Well, I should probably scoot because I have school tomorrow, but that's all that's going on in these parts. I promised that I'll try and write you more okay? Good luck! I miss you!

Friend Letter: How's Your Companion

Flora!

Sorry, it has taken me a little to get this letter off to you. School has been like an avalanche. I have a quiz and two tests this week, a test next week, and a test the week after that. But so much has happened that I have to tell you! I took your advice, and Friday I told Matty that I was ready. So things are going along quite well for us so far I think! So there, I kept you informed! haha

Anywhoo...How's the MTC? I'm sorry that I couldn't get there to see you go in, even though I guess it would have technically been breaking the rules. Do you like the classes that you're taking and stuff like that? How's your companion situation? Is she someone that you can at least tolerate? Seriously you have to tell me all about it! I miss you, and hope that you are enjoying it. I know it's probably difficult but I'm sure things will get easier and at least you know that you have the Lord with you and that you are about his business. That has to be a great thing to know 100% that you are where the Lord wants you to be and that you're doing the things that he wants you to do! Well dear, I suppose I should get going but know that I miss you and pray for you.

Friend Letter: Sending Hot Cheetos and Rainbow Chip Frosting

1/31/2009

Sister Bruno!-

How's the MTC? Are you getting the hang of the language and all that jazz!? Things here are pretty much the same as when I last wrote you. Did you get that by the way? The other day Matty and I were sitting down to lunch and he was writing you a letter on Dear Elder and he mentioned sending you a package through them but in the end we decided to do it this way so we could fill it with some of your favorite things. Although when it came down to it the only things we knew you would for sure want were Hot Cheetos and Rainbow Chip Frosting. We did our best though and we hope that you enjoy it! We love you!

School is going OK. I had two tests this last Friday. One of which I'm sure I did hideously on. It was an essay test and they wanted us to discuss four civilizations in depth in an hour long story short I ran out of time! I'm thinking about changing my major. I have exams this semester that all come at the same time. That's pretty much about it for this kid.

Flora, I know the Lord is with you in this time of your life. You really are where He wants you to be. I keep you in my prayers. I love ya!
